Woman dies after attempting suicide in Manchiriyal

A woman , who allegedly attempted suicide following a family dispute late Wednesday night , died, while her daughter remains in a critical condition.

Attempted suicide by drinking pesticide

Police said that widow Pochamma (70) and her daughter Rajamma, belonging to the nomadic community of Chunnambattiwada, attempted suicide by consuming pesticide. They were immediately admitted to a hospital in the city. Pochamma died during treatment.

Rajamma is struggling between life and death

Rajamma was struggling between life and death. It has been learned that at that time both the women were in a drunken state and they had a fight over something. After which they tried to commit suicide. Rajamma was living with Pochamma after separating from her husband. They were making a living by collecting discarded plastic bottles. Pochamma's son Gangaram lodged a complaint with the police. A case has been registered. Investigation is underway.
