New Delhi: The NDA government has presented the budget for the financial year in Parliament. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman read out the budget in the Lok Sabha. The central government has good news for gig workers. It has announced that insurance will be provided to up to one crore gig workers employed in delivery services like Swiggy and Zomato across the country. To facilitate this, the government has also introduced identification cards for gig workers to avail the benefits. Under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana, health insurance will be implemented for one crore gig workers. The government has suggested registering the names of gig workers through the Shram Portal. Experts believe that the insurance facility will greatly benefit those who travel on the roads day and night.

Additionally, the government revealed plans for pulses and grains for the next six years, with the launch of the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana on an experimental basis. This initiative is already benefiting 17 crore farmers. The government has focused on curbing migration, achieving self-sufficiency in three types of pulse crops. A special board has been set up for Makhana farmers in Bihar. The government also introduced a plan for high-yield seeds and increased the limit of Kisan Credit Cards from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh, benefiting 7.7 crore farmers.
