Today is the festival of Holi and Holika Dahan. Today the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of rain in about 24 states of the country. Dense black clouds are looming over Delhi-NCR. At the same time, heat has also started showing its effect in the country. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), yesterday was the second hottest day of the year 2025 in Delhi. Yesterday the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.5 degrees Celsius, which was 4.6 degrees above normal. Today Delhi is likely to remain cloudy and it may rain at night.

In Rajasthan, the maximum temperature of Barmer was 41.2 degrees, 7 degrees above normal for the second consecutive day. It has been raining continuously for 2 days in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Cyclonic winds are expected to blow at a speed of 35 to 45 kilometers per hour on the coasts of Kerala, Lakshadweep and Tamil Nadu. All the 8 states of Northeast India, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Andaman Nicobar may receive light to moderate rain at some places today and tomorrow on 14 March. Thunderstorms may occur. Winds may blow at a speed of 40-50 kilometers per hour. The weather will remain the same for 4 days from today to 16 March.

Latest weather conditions in the country

According to the Meteorological Department, the western disturbance is active in the form of cyclonic circulation at 3.1 km above sea level over western Afghanistan and adjoining areas. Cyclonic circulation is present at 0.9 km above sea level over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas. A cyclonic wind area is present over eastern Bangladesh and lower tropospheric levels. The second cyclonic wind area is present over eastern Assam and its adjoining areas. Cyclonic circulation is present over western equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Maldives region. A cyclonic circulation in the eastern direction is present up to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal off the Tamil Nadu coast.

Heat wave alert issued in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave is likely at isolated places in Gujarat and Konkan today. Heat wave may also occur in South-West Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic plains of West Bengal till March 16. Hot weather is likely at isolated places in Saurashtra and Kutch at night. Hot and humid weather is likely in Odisha, coastal Karnataka on March 15 and 16.
